Joe Biden is no dummy. Oh, he is gaffe-prone, he’s like the uncle that gropes every girl who walks into the room. But he’s no dummy. And he’s got the prescription for beating Hillary Clinton in the Democratic primary. I’m not sure if it’ll work in the general election next fall, but he’s a sure thing to knock Bernie Sanders from his perch, and put Hillary out of her misery once and for all.
He’s got Elizabeth Warren all set to be his Vice Presidential nominee.
If that doesn’t cut into Sanders’ popularity, and also tweak Hillary’s nose at the same time, I don’t know anything that will. Warren has said that she wasn’t going to run for president this year, primarily out of respect to Hillary wanting to be the “first female president”. But she hasn’t said she wouldn’t become a vice presidential candidate.
Think of what happens if Warren joins Biden on the ticket. She gets the female vote because she’s probably the most-loved female Democrat out there (to be honest, there isn’t much competition!). And she gets the liberal wing of the party that’s been screaming for her to run because they think Hillary is too conservative and too much a “hawk”. That means that Elizabeth Warren might be able to do what few VP’s could do…actually bring some voters to the ticket.
It makes Biden more lively. It puts him in play as the senior statesman of the party, leaving Bill Clinton free to go back to the Caribbean and enjoy his under-aged sex romps. And it leaves Hillary out in the cold.
Now, I wouldn’t profess that such a move would be wise for a general election victory. I think, and always have, the Democrats are in the same position the GOP was when Bob Dole or John McCain ran. They had history against them, and they weren’t going to be able to win regardless. That’s why you don’t see many Dems running in an “open seat” year. The real players in the Democrat party know that it’s an extreme longshot for anyone to win the White House. And frankly, Joe Biden also knows it. But he knows that if he doesn’t run this time, his chances of ever sitting behind the Resolute Desk are over. As it is, he would become the oldest sitting president in US history, ousting Ronald Reagan from that position.
But when it comes to winning the Democratic primaries and getting the nomination, Biden may just have the golden ace up his sleeve with Warren. Her likeability is greater than anybody else in the party, many times that of Hillary…and Biden is a lot more likeable as well. Both are considered to be trustworthy, by people on both sides of the aisle. And it gives a clear distinction to whomever the Republicans decide to run. It would truly be a right vs. left fight.
Hillary is scared shitless on this one…and she should be. Her lifelong dream of being the first female president is about to go down the toilet in one flush. And I know a lot of us couldn’t be happier to watch!
Carry on world…you’re dismissed!
