We are in the final week of October. There are still an over-abundant amount of candidates that are vying for your vote (at some point) to be president of this country starting January 20, 2017. The question is, when are most of them going to get out and let the real candidates slug it out.
Oh, we’ve lost Perry, and Webb, and Walker and Chafee. That’s a start, but it’s not enough. We need to lose a LOT more. We need to lose a ton more people and quickly.
Let’s face it…the Democrats can shed Marty O’Malley and send him packing. They guy only has 4% of the vote in Iowa and isn’t doing any better nationally. There’s no way he deserves to be on the stage with either Clinton or Sanders. Let the two of them hash it out. If Bernie can prove he’s the better candidate, so be it…but at least he deserves to be there.
On the Republican side, there are a ton of folks just hanging on. And there are a ton that are in no-man’s-land. The hangers include George Pataki, Lindsay Graham, Rick Santorum, Chris Christie, John Kasich, Mike Huckabee, and Bobby Jindal. Those seven need to bow out for the good of the party. They aren’t getting any traction, and nobody’s paying any attention to them. It’s not in the cards, it’s time for them to go. Hey, there are some good people there, but the trash heap of presidential wannabes is full of good people. It’s all about timing. Christie should have run in 2012, not now. Santorum never should be in this race. Pataki is a has been, and Kasich and Graham just aren’t that well-known. Huckabee was good last time around, but isn’t the same guy. Jindal never should have left Louisiana. It’s time to get out-of-the-way and let the real candidates fight it out.
For those in the middle, and this is going to surprise some of you, I think there are several that probably will hang on, and that’s all they’ll do, until the money runs out. And it will. Rand Paul needs to go. Jeb Bush needs to go. And this one, I’m sorry to add, but Carly Fiorina needs to go. I really like her, but she’s faded since her first debate performance, showing that she just can’t compete with the big boys. It’s time Carly. Jeb is cutting staff’s wages by 40% and is running short on money, and Rand Paul is learning something his father needed to learn a long time ago…the more you learn about libertarianism, the less you like it. That’s exactly what’s happened to Rand. Go back to the senate and represent Kentucky. You’re not presidential material.
There. That leaves Sanders and Clinton on the Democrats side, and still a sizable field on the GOP side. You’ve got Carson, Trump, Rubio and Cruz. Let them battle it out. With four people, the debates actually mean something, not just who can get the best one-liner in there. We’ll see if Trump and Carson can hold their own against a couple of up and coming Republican stars. My guess is they probably can’t.
Carry on world…you’re dismissed!
