When Desert Musings Meets The Arlin Report

No, it doesn’t happen very often. In fact, it doesn’t happen often enough. Today’s blog is going to be a little different because what happened over this past weekend was a little different. It’s not commonplace to have two bloggers meet up and discuss world events, retirement venues, our lives, and our hopes and dreams…but that’s what happened at Mr. Lucky’s in Missouri on Saturday!

As you can see, the Desert Man and Arlin from The Arlin Report met up for the first time. Yes, we’re from different parts of the country, but we’re also kindred spirits when it comes to what’s wrong with this country and what needs to happen to fix it.

I haven’t ever met any of you in person before (well, one or two of you!), but none of you that actually writes a blog, and I gotta say, it was a great experience. We ought to do this more often. I met a guy that was fascinating in what he does for a living, and what he believes in. I had a feeling that would happen, because when I read his blogs I usually end up sitting there nodding and saying to myself, “Why didn’t I think of that!?”

It was a pleasure to meet with Arlin and spend some time with him, although it was too short. But the nice news is, he lives within shouting distance of one of my kids, and their family and so I’m able to stop by and see him whenever I’m in the neighborhood. And of course, he and his significant other have an open invitation to come to the desert and enjoy all the cactus tea they can guzzle!

It’s not going to be a long blog today…it’s nothing earth shattering based on all of the world events. It’s just that I wanted you all to know that yes…we bloggers do sometimes meet, and discuss, and become friends. And with that I say…

Carry on world…you’re dismissed!

  1. Very cool! Two great Americans together at last. (I hope to be a regular again soon if I can work out these damn technical issues with revamping my site! Damn.)

  2. Arlin going to give up his Social Security and Medicare when he is eligible, if he is not already? I imagine he does not want to be one of those takers or cash in on socialist programs I believe he hates. Just asking.

BTW, what is the criteria to become a great American or a Patriot? Is this limited to just Republicans, militia nuts or conspiracy theorists? Just asking.

I also learned that Newtie with his two divorces and three marriages flew to Indiana yesterday on Sean Hannity’s private jet. Sean never mentioned this on his program but his interview with Newt showed that he has his head a serious distance up Newt’s rectum. Is this the family values ticket?
