Both Candidates Need To Change. Who Will?

Watching the Republican convention, with all of the good, the bad, and the ugly, and there was plenty of all three, I realized something. Both candidates need to change in order to win the presidency. Watching the convention of Donald Trump last night, it hit me. The guy is an egotistical ass. He’s all about himself, and he’s all about making money. Now, I really don’t care about anybody that’s all about themselves, it tells me that they are basically selfish people. And I really don’t care if someone is all about the money, because that is important to some people.

What I realized though is, he’s not ready to become president. He needs to change. Now his kids said all the right things the other night in their speeches, and Trump said the right things last night in his speech. It WAS the biggest speech of his life after all. But something else hit me. Hillary Clinton needs to change too. And for all of the talk of Trump being the underdog and not having a chance in hell of winning against her, I like his odds in changing a lot better than I like hers.

Let’s examine this for a minute. Hillary is a convicted pathological liar. Not even the most staunch Hillary supporter can come out and deny that. Hell, Hillary probably wouldn’t deny it. And that is exactly why she has the much tougher road to hoe than Trump does. How does someone that can’t tell the truth, that has no basis in fact for doing so, how do they change and tell the truth? I can’t see how it can be done because in her world, she doesn’t know she’s lying. It’s a mental thing. Trump is an egotistical asshole. That much we all can agree on. And changing from that to “nice guy” who is in touch and cares about average Americans (or at least giving that impression) is a much shorter putt to make.

Granted, Trump changing is only going to be an act, but at least it’s an act he HAS done in the past. Hillary hasn’t. When has she told the truth on anything of any importance? When has she actually accomplished anything of any importance? Ask any liberal to tell you that and you’ll get deer in the headlights coming back at you. There is no answer because she hasn’t on both accounts. Has Trump ever acted “nice” to people? Well, if you’re watching the convention, you’re hearing a lot of people saying that he has been nice to them…that he’s in touch with average America. Hillary? Nope. Not even close.

It’s for that reason that even the liberals I’ve talked to have said as the election gets closer, as the trustworthiness becomes more of an issue, there are going to be fewer and fewer people moving to Hillary’s side. And she’s trailing in some key states. She can’t afford to lose Pennsylvania, Ohio, and Florida, because if she does, she loses the election. The latest polls have her down in every one of those states, and a few more that will throw the election to Trump. The nasty thing for Hillary is, she can’t lie her way out of this one.

Carry on world…you’re dismissed!

  1. You bring up a very good point. Hillary hasn’t changed one bit since Watergate; she will tell the truth only if she will benefit from it and she will lie at the drop of a hat to not only save her ass but to also make herself look better (like being fired upon when she got out of the helicopter (or was it a plane?). Her issues are DEEP and will be very hard, if not impossible, to change them…it is who she is! Donald, Donald, Donald. I think he has a FAR better chance of changing his persona. Granted, you can’t get to where he has in life without developing a bit of an ego and I doubt that ego will fade too much. BUT, and IMHO, you can’t raise 5 kids that turn out that great if you are a completely self-absorbed a-hole. He has clearly poured himself into them and for that reason alone I give him hope of changing some of the things needed to forge ahead. Well, that’s my two cents worth. Have a great weekend!

      • I agree with everything Lorra said. I haven’t seen many presidents, of this nation, any nation or company that didn’t have a high ego, egotistical even. I sometimes think extreme confidence comes across as egotistical. I would rather Trump have an extreme confidence/ego if you will than extreme pathological liar, extreme corruption as miss Hillary, or an extreme ego as Obama. I believe Trump does have more compassion for this country and people than H. Clinton! That will set him apart, or should.
