I don’t wish bad health on anyone. Sorry, but I have to put that one aside. And the same holds true for Hillary Clinton. No, I’m not anywhere near a fan of hers. I’ve called her the weakest candidate in US history, and she is. But I don’t wish her ill health. That wouldn’t be humane. But apparently her health issues from last weekend are having a toll on her poll numbers.
I will preface this by saying two things. First of all, yes liberals, you are right in that the only poll that matters is the one we will take on November 8th. Second, this particular poll that I’m about to quote has been different from all other polls for the past two months. It HAS shown Trump to be much stronger than the other national polls…and they even state that the reason is their methodology is different. I didn’t say better, I said different. But it does show exactly what every other poll in the country is showing…since last weekend, Hillary Clinton has lost about five points and you would have to point to her pneumonia issues as the reason.
The poll is the LA Times/USC poll. Now, the LA Times is only slightly left of the NY Times when it comes to ideology. It is not what anyone would confuse with a conservative rag…and it isn’t anywhere near the journalistic prowess of say, The National Enquirer. But it is showing Donald Trump with a 6 point lead after last weekend’s events. That is one of the largest leads Trump has had in this campaign, and though the lead is bigger than most of the other polls out there, it mirrors what has been happening for the last six weeks…Hillary Clinton has lost her lead and is losing.
The LA Times/USC poll could be called an outlier because of its methodology. It discounts convention bumps. It poses it’s questions differently, which gives different results. Most polls ask, “Who would you vote for if the election were held today?” The Times/USC poll asks people to rate their vote on a scale of 0-100. So basically if you’re a Hillary voter, you’d say, “I’d vote for Hillary and I’d rate it an 85.” That is plugged into algorithm and the 85 that you gave Hillary is matched up to determine how excited you are to vote for Hillary. THAT is what effects the poll numbers here. It has long been stated and proven that the Republicans that ARE voting for Trump are a lot more excited about voting for him than the Democrats are about voting for Hillary. And apparently, the health problems Clinton experienced only exacerbated the problem. By the way, the six point Trump lead is one of the few times, the LA Times/USC poll has been outside the margin of error for either candidate has had in the poll.
This is one poll. The race isn’t over. Another Hillary health issue, Donald stumbling at the debates, an October surprise from WikiLeaks found Julian Assange, more email problems for Hillary, more stupid comments from Donald, anything can change the race in a heartbeat as we have seen in the last week. One thing for sure…lay in for an extra helping of popcorn for election night. This one won’t be over early!
Carry on world…you’re dismissed!
