Obama’s Psychosis

The American Heritage Dictionary defines “psychosis” as “a severe mental disorder, with or without organic damage, characterized by derangement of personality and loss of contact with reality and causing deterioration of normal social functioning.” That is a classic example of what Barack Obama seems to be suffering through in the final days of his presidency.

The 44th president is trying his best to write history on his past eight years, before the historians get the chance to look at the facts. And while he is very popular as far as poll numbers are concerned right now, he is also very afraid that history isn’t going to judge him anywhere near as great as he is judging himself. So, he’s out talking to anybody that will listen, and telling them how great he is. The problem with that is that it’s not really rooted in reality. Thus the psychosis disorder.

For instance, let’s take a look at a couple of things Obama has said in the past day or so. He mentioned that race relations in America have improved during his time in office. Actually, they’ve declined. According to the Gallup organization, most people feel that race relations are worse today than they were 10 years ago. A decade ago, we didn’t have the riots we’ve seen in Ferguson, Missouri or Baltimore, or Phoenix, or Cleveland. We didn’t have the Treyvon Martin tragedy. We didn’t have the numerous murders of blacks. We didn’t have “black lives matter”. That’s all been festering under Obama. That’s his problem that he owns because he allowed a racist as Attorney General, and showed several racist tendencies himself while in office (remember the “Beer Summit” early on?).

Let’s take a look at another thing. Obama says that violent crime has decreased under his watch. Now, I really don’t consider crime something a president can take credit for. Local and state law enforcement officials, or governors, sure, but not sitting presidents. But let’s go with it for a minute. 1,500 people have perished due to violent crimes in the past two years. Obama’s own FBI has said that murders have increased 10.8% since 2014. The very liberal Brennan Center for Justice stated:

The violent crime rate is projected to rise slightly, by 5.5 percent, with half the increase driven by Los Angeles (up 13.3 percent) and Chicago (up 16.2 percent) … Nationally, the murder rate is projected to increase 31.5 percent from 2014 to 2016 — with half of additional murders attributable to Baltimore, Chicago, and Houston.

Yet, Obama insists that there isn’t an increase in violent crime. That in a word is delusional. That in two words is an attempt to rewrite history.

And the Obama victory lap will continue until he’s out of office and out of mind and out of sight. After giving himself medals, and doing a farewell speech at each of his cabinet posts’ offices, he continues to rail about how his policies would have worked better had it not been for Republicans. Actually, they would have worked better had he tried to work WITH Republicans, rather than take out “his pen and his phone” and rule by executive fiat. That would have been the mark of a great leader. That would have been something to hang his hat on. Instead, the country is more divisive and more remote because of Barack Obama and his failed policies and ineffectual leadership abilities. We are worse off at home with domestic policies, and worse off overseas with our allies and enemies alike. And to top it all off, he lost over 1,000 state and national Democrat seats during his eight years in office. No other president can make that claim…but somehow I doubt he’s going to be touting that as a legacy item anytime soon!

Carry on world…you’re dismissed!
