I tell it the way I see it, and frankly, the new GOP healthcare bill that is supposed to “repeal and replace” Obamacare is way off base. It doesn’t do a damn thing except get government more and more involved in MY healthcare, which is exactly the opposite of what should happen.
Let’s understand one thing. It doesn’t fix the problem of people that don’t have health insurance and want it, but can’t afford it. It forces the rest of the country to do things we don’t want to do so we take care of a minority. That is never a good policy, and it stinks to high heaven here.
Is the “American Healthcare Act” better than Obamacare? That’s a question that is like “Is it better to be beheaded or die by a firing squad?” Neither is good. The main thing I have always wanted is to get Washington OUT of my healthcare decisions. It’s bad enough I have to have a state insurance commissioner. Hell, it’s bad enough I have to deal with insurance companies. So, here’s what needs to really happen, and no, I don’t buy Paul Ryan’s excuse that they have to do it as a budget bill because they don’t have the votes. Get the votes. That’s your job.
Erase Obamacare from the face of the earth before it self-destructs, or just let the damn thing implode as it will later this year. There are now, what, maybe two or three little insurance companies that can’t handle the business that are still in Obamacare? I know in AZ, we have one small insurer for the entire state and the policy is crap. Get rid of Obamacare and all of the crap surrounding it NOW!
Second, make it possible to sell insurance across state lines. That increases competition and makes costs lower for everybody. Third, allow individuals to sue insurance companies for malpractice just like we can sue the medical professionals who screw up. Finally, go back to what we had (or something like it) before this idiocy of Obamacare started. It was a failed experiment designed to take over 16% of the US economy and it failed miserably. Be done with it already.
If the folks in DC want to help those that need insurance but can’t afford it, I have no problem with that. They do NOT need to involve me or the other 300 million other Americans that either have insurance or don’t want it. You don’t kill gnats with an elephant gun, and by God, you don’t fix an insurance problem that hits maybe three or four million people (less than one percent!) by screwing up 99% of the population’s insurance.
Repeal and replace? That’s only half right. Get the hell out of my insurance policy and let’s let life get back to normal. Obama was a catastrophe in this country, and this is a major example of that. It’s also a major example of what happens when you let liberals take over a government. It fails. It has every single time because no one can afford it. Repeal Obamacare, bury it, burn it, destroy it, and desecrate it’s body. THEN if you want to reform healthcare by keeping government out of it, go for it!
Carry on world…you’re dismissed!
